Welcome to Slammered, a blog about life with Lewy Body Dementia.
David Malone was 65 when his primary care physician tentatively diagnosed LBD in December, 2017. A few months later, a neuropsych evaluation supported that diagnosis.
Why “slammered”? David was driving to Minneapolis, he told me (years after he’d stopped driving), when he passed the site of an accident: “That car had been slammered.”
LBD slammered us, as it does so many. According to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, LBD “affects more than a million people in the United States alone.”
This blog recounts the progression of David’s illness from 2017 until his death in 2022. I hope readers will find it helpful.
